Letter to the Editor
On adjournment of the July 18 meeting of the Board of Review, I provided Thompson supervisor Lund with contact information whereby minutes from two subsequent June township meetings could be either mailed or emailed to me. Although the minutes should have been ready 5 to 8 business days after the last meeting, the supervisor said, “They probably won’t be available until the next meeting,” I was also told by the supervisor that there is “no meeting of the Thompson township board scheduled for July, and the next meeting might be held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 14” at township hall ((906) 341-2441) 8910W Pine Street.
Residents and voters cannot always attend their monthly town hall meetings, especially when many of the meetings in Thompson have either had their days or hours or both switched from those announced at the beginning of the year.
As the Republican candidate for Thompson supervisor in the Aug. 7 primary election, I am circulating a petition to have the Thompson Township minutes published in local newspapers after each meeting, therefore residents and voters can be informed about all motions, resolutions and actions and the reasons by reading about them in advance and before their approval at the next meeting.
