Wave O. Carey

Wave O. Carey, 82, of 1570W Quarry Road, Gulliver, Mich., died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique, Mich.

She was born May 14, 1930, in Gould City, Mich., the daughter of Harry and Della (Slack) Rosebush. After the death of her mother at an early age, she was raised by her father and mother, Harry and Dorothy (Boucha) Rosebush. She attended school in Naubinway, Mich. and Gulliver.

On Jan. 11, 1948, the former Wave O. Rosebush married George L. Carey in Gulliver. They made their home in Gulliver and later in the Pontiac/Clarkston, Mich., areas from 1963-1985. They returned to Gulliver in 1985 following George’s retirement. George preceded her in death on June 22, 2008.

Wave was a homemaker and a member of the Community of Christ Church in Gulliver.

She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, knitting and crocheting, cooking and baking, and providing a nice home for her family.

Wave is survived by her sons, Harry “Butch” (Margo) Carey of Burton, Mich., and Pat (the late Pamela) Carey of Gulliver; daughter, Connie Davis of Aurora, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreat grandchild; brother, Pat (Ellen) Rosebush of Gulliver; sisters, Helen (Rollie) Bennett of Gulliver and Jessie Schnurer of Chicago, Ill; along with nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Georgia Ann Carey; granddaughters, Wave Ann Lewis and Skylee Lewis; brother, Perry Rosebush; and her sister, Fay Brown.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, July 26, at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Celebrant Carole Cooper officiating.

Burial will be held in Garfield Township Cemetery at Engadine, Mich.
