Festive folk


Pioneer Tribune photos Pioneer Tribune photos Manistique celebrated its annual Folkfest this past weekend, kicking off events Friday with the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter’s Pet Parade. At right, middle, a boy displays his puppy while walking in the parade. Above, right, a spectator pets one of the friendly pooches as he passes by. On Saturday, an opening ceremony started the day, with the 2012 Folk Hero, Jim Barr, bottom left, awarded for his years of community service. At top center and bottom right, visitors enjoy the day perusing through the many booths at the festival. Numerous activities, like face painting, above middle, and rides, top right, were available to the many children attending the celebration.
