The class will focus on learning the tools and techniques to do fine beadwork, in this case, using tiny transparent glass beads.

Anna Catherine will help participants design and make a three inch diameter beaded pin. The beadwork itself is done on a heavy felt-like fabric, and the completed beaded circle mounted on a disc of leather. When finished, the beadwork may be used as a pin or the fastener for a bolero tie. Cost of the class is $40, and all supplies will be provided.

The techniques learned in this class will allow participants to make more elaborate pieces such as hair accessories; a beaded patch for purses, jeans, or jackets; beaded collars for special occasion clothing, and much more.

A long-time bead enthusiast, Voss devotes herself full-time to her passion for beadwork as an art form. Her specialty is making beautiful, intricate designs for hair accessories. She has exhibited in craft shows and won “Best of Show”, plus many blue ribbons in the Schoolcraft County Fair. Voss now displays her beadwork in the newly-opened Lake Effect Art Gallery at the Manistique Trader’s Point complex under the name “AnnieCats Designs.”

Registration forms are available online and the last day to register is July 16. Any questions can be directed to Stephanie Reese at 283-1001 or Lucia Leonardelli at 283-2008.
