New race will kick off parade

MANISTIQUE – On Saturday, July 7, there will be a new race in town. The first “Manistique Mile” will be held at the start of the Fourth of July parade.

The organizers of the Manistique Paper Chase have developed this short run to kick off the day’s festivities.

Registration and parking will be from 11 a.m. until noon at Denton Nelson Field on Fifth Street. The route will be along the parade route, from Family Pride Laundry to the Peoples Store.

There are no early registrations and all participants under the age of 18 will need parental permission. The registration fee is $5 and can be made by cash or check payable to the Manistique Paper Chase.

Come on out for a chance to run in front of hundreds or even thousands of spectators.

First place male and female runners will be recognized.
