New pastor for Garden, Nahma, Cooks parishes
MARQUETTE – Bishop Alexander Sample of the Catholic Diocese of Marquette has announced the appointment of Rev. Antony Lukka, 46, as pastor of the following parishes: St. John the Baptist in Garden; St. Andrew in Nahma; and St. Mary Magdalene in Cooks. The appointment is effective July 3.
Lukka will be relieved of his assignment as associate pastor of the following parishes: Sacred Heart in L’Anse; St. Anne in Baraga; and The Most Holy Name of Jesus-Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha in Assinins. The current pastor of the Garden area parishes, Rev. James Roetzer, is taking time off from active ministry. Lukka is a diocesan priest from India. Ordained to the priesthood on May 30, 1995, he served as an assistant pastor and pastor of parishes in his native country. In addition, he has 14 years experience as a postgraduate teacher in chemistry at St. Antony’s Public School and Junior College in India, while serving for seven years as vice principal and then seven years as principal of those schools.
