Dedicated

On June 23, the Elks Central Park Flag Pole/Wall Dedication Ceremony was held. The flag pole, brick monument, and surrounding landscaping, which commemorates the creation of Central Park, was donated by the Manistique Elks Lodge No. 632 to the City of Manistique. A flag-raising ceremony was conducted by the Manistique All-Vets Color Guard, assisted by Boy Scout Troop No. 400 of Manistique, and was followed by the dedication ceremony in the ball field of Central Park. Pictured above are the Color Guard, Boy Scouts, Elks officers, and Elks members who attended the event. The project was funded by grants from the Elks National Foundation and State of Michigan Elks Organization, and by local individual donations and fundraisers. Local entities that donated time and materials for the project include: Manistique Lumber, Hoholik Enterprises, Cloverland Electric Co-op, Manistique Rentals, Portraits Plus, and the City of Manistique. Labor was donated by a number of members of the Manistique Lodge. Following the ceremony, the Manistique Elks No. 632 also presented a check to officials of the CUP baseball organization.
