Fayette park hosts special ‘Christmas in June’ event

FAYETTE – Fayette Historic State Park will be holding a Christmas in June celebration on June 23.

Everyone is invited to participate in the fun, sporting what is usually worn on Christmas morning – pajamas.

Schedule of activities (all held in the baseball field) for the day are:

10:30 a.m. - Fire truck parade through campground, featuring Smokey Bear!

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. - Children’s games and activities (the “Elves” promise that adults will have fun, too).

• Water balloon toss competitions

• “Reindeer” games

• Bounce house and bounce obstacle course

• Minnow races

• Holiday kid art projects

• Holiday coloring pages

• Birch bark bird feeder making

• Winter wonderland scavenger hunt

• Face painting

• Dunk tank

Santa arrives at 2 p.m., followed by Smokey Bear at 2:30 p.m.

Providing a non-traditional Christmas feast will be a hot dog concession stand.

Admission is by Michigan State Park motor vehicle Recreation Passport; participation in “Christmas in June” activities is free of charge. Activities provided by DNR Staff. For more information, call the park office at (906) 644-2603.
