Two injured in motorcycle accident

The crash occurred on U.S. 2 in Manistique Township at approximately 10:35 a.m.

The crash occurred when a westbound motorcycle, driven by a 54-year-old female from Kentucky drove into the back of a motorcycle driven by a 65-year-old male Ohio resident, the release states. The collision caused both drivers to lose control, and the Kentucky resident was thrown from her motorcycle.

After initially being transported to the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, the Kentucky resident was later transferred to Marquette General Hospital, where treatment continues. The Ohio driver sought treatment at SMH, and was later released.

Neither speed nor alcohol are factors in the accident, the release claims, and neither driver was wearing a helmet.

MSP troopers were assisted on the scene by Manistique Public Safety, Michigan Conservation Officers, Michigan State Police Accident Investigators, Sault Tribe Law Enforcement, Schoolcraft County Road Commission, and the Schoolcraft County Sheriff Department.
