Tiglas to participate in U.P. All-Star game


Kyle Tiglas Kyle Tiglas MARQUETTE, MI – The U.P. Football AllStar Game has finalized the schedule and teams for the 2012 event.

The teams will again be split into East and West with the game scheduled to be played in Marquette at the Superior Dome, on Saturday, June 30. Game time is set for 3 p.m. Doors will open at 2 p.m.

2012 Senior Kyle Tiglas will join the long list of Emerald athletes who have had the honor of suiting up for the annual event. He will be suiting up for the East team.

Many activities are planned throughout the week for the players and coaches.

Monday, June 25: Players and coaches check in at Meyland Hall on NMU campus.

Tuesday, June 26: Team and individual pictures, as well as media day.

Wednesday, June 27: Players skills challenge. The players will compete for the titles of Fastest Man, Strongest Man, Receiver, Quarterback Challenge, Kicking and Punting Challenges.

Thursday, June 28: Players and coaches will visit Bay Cliff Health Camp. Bay Cliff is a summer camp for children with physical disabilities, and the allstar players will spend time with the campers, showing them football drills, and finishing the day with dinner at Bay Cliff.

Friday, June 29: AllStar Banquet, with the guest speaker to be announced later this week. Last year featured Four Time National Championship Coach Lance Leipold, from UWWhitewater.

Saturday, June 30: Before the game, will be the Underclassmen Testing Combine, which will be held for any players who will be in grades 9-12 for the upcoming school year.

All athletes will be physically tested in speed, strength and agility. Registration must be done in advance.
