Paul R. Thibideau

Paul R. Thibideau, 85, of Lustila Road, Germfask, Mich., died Monday, June 11, 2012, at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.

He was born April 1, 1927, in Chicago Heights, Ill., the son of A. Redvers and Marian (Millar) Thibideau. His mother Marian passed away when Paul was four years of age. Paul’s father Redvers later married Delphine Nahrgang in Canada and they moved to Germfask when Paul was nine years old. Paul was raised and attended school in Germfask.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946.

On Feb. 15, 1947, he married the former Alma M. Smith in Manistique and they made their home and raised their family in Germfask. Alma preceded him in death on March 26, 2012.

Paul and Alma operated a beef cattle farm on Lustila Road in Germfask. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, dancing and playing cards.

Paul is survived by his daughters, Linda (Claude) Clickner of Germfask, Sandy (Bob) Smith of Traunik, Mich., Nancy Faketty of Wisconsin and Paula Thibideau of Germfask; seven grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; sisters, Vivian Lustila and Mary (Robert) Bowler both of Germfask; along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian, Redvers and Delphine; and wife, Alma.

Visitation was 3-4 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services followed at 4 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor J.D. Livermore, Jr. officiating.
