Freshner salutes local disc jockey; takes home award

Courtesy photo MANISTIQUE - Doug Freshner of Manistique has won a Hermes Gold award for his production saluting a milestone in the career of WTIQ disc jockey L. David Vaughan.

The video featured many of the radio man’s friends including Dick Ketcik, NASCAR Bob Williams and Paul Olson, along with his wife, Becky Vaughan, recalling the highlights of his 40-something year career.

Freshner is the former director of electronic media relations at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He moved to Manistique following his retirement in 2006, where he continues to produce historical and promotional videos, including the annual Manistique Car Show, which has won an international award five years in a row.

The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals in traditional and emerging media. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose work exceeds a high standard of excellence.
