U.P. Food Council workshop set

MANISTIQUE – As part of the Sault Tribe Community Transformation Grant Project, the community of Manistique has been selected to host one of three U.P. Food Council Consensus Workshops.

The purpose of the U.P. Food Council will be to increase the availability, accessibility, affordability, and identification of healthy foods. Rather than implement a collection of discrete or isolated strategies to achieve this goal, the Sault Tribe plans to work throughout their seven county service area to address the regional food system as a whole. The service area includes the following counties: Chippewa, Schoolcraft, Alger, Marquette, Luce, Delta, and Mackinac.

The Manistique workshop will take place on June 13, from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Upper Crust Deli.

For more information regarding these workshops or to register, please contact Donna Norkoli at dnorkoli@saulttribe.net, (906) 635-8844; or Kerry Ott at kott@saulttribe.net, (906) 341-9561. RSVP is requested by Friday.
