Edward W. Prezsnar

Edward W. Prezsnar, 90, of 15937 Water St., Garden, Mich., died Friday, May 25, 2012, at his home in Garden.

He was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Garden, the son of John and Mary J. (Kosiba) and attended school in Garden.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe and was wounded in action. He was the recipient of two purple hearts.

Following military service, he was employed on the iron ore boats on the Great Lakes and later became self-employed as a woods worker.

On Oct. 4, 1968, he married the former Lenore M. Thennes in Marinette, Wis., and they made their home in Garden.

He was an honorary member of the American Legion Post No. 545 of Garden and was also a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed spending time with his sons, grandchildren, and dogs.

Ed is survived by his wife, Lenore M. Prezsnar of Garden; sons, Nick Roder of Garden, Mitchell (Beverly) Roder of Olympia, Wa., Scott (Sandra) Roder of Green Bay, Wis., Neil (Lidia) Roder of San Diego, Calif., and Jay Roder of Kalamazoo, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Prezsnar; sister, Ella Rochefort; and a nephew, Jeffrey.

Visitation was held from 3-4 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, at Messier- Broullire Funeral Home in Garden. A memorial service followed at 4 p.m., at the funeral home with Father James Roetzer officiating. American Legion military honors will follow.
