Vacation bible school offered at Cedar Grove

MANISTIQUE – Children ages four through eighth grade graduates are invited to attend the annual Vacation Bible School at Cedar Grove Mennonite Church.

The school will be held June 4-8, from 1-3:40 p.m. The ending time will be slightly later on Friday to accommodate the closing program.

The theme for this year’s session is “Take Me to the Water: God’s Love Flows!” Bible stories of the week include God’s supply of water for the Israelites from a rock in the desert, Jesus’ calming of the storm, Jesus’ meeting with the Samaritan woman at the well, and others. Each day will include music, a drama presentation, Bible study/discussion and special activities, such as art projects and outdoor games.

Library closed May 28

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique School and Public Library will be closed on Monday, May 28, Memorial Day, and will begin summer hours on Tuesday, May 29.

The summer hours are Mondays and Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Construction on U.S. 2

ESCANABA – The Michigan Department of Transportation is advising of U.S. 2 construction between Gladstone and Escanaba. From May 23 to Aug. 26, resurfacing will be completed on 5.4 miles of U.S. 2 from Gladstone to just north of Escanaba. The work will require daytime lane closures, traffic shifts, and shoulder closures.
