James Lyon Camp to hold bi-monthly meet
MARQUETTE – The Albert and James Lyon Camp of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold their bi-monthly camp meeting on Saturday, June 2, at 1 p.m. in the Board Room on the basement level of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, 425 Fisher Street, Marquette.
The Camp is composed of Upper Peninsula residents who have an interest in the Civil War, as well as a commitment to perpetuating the memory of the men who fought to preserve this nation. It specifically works to collect, preserve, and document the location of records, artifacts, and memorabilia and to locate, mark, record, and maintain the graves of Civil War soldiers.
Anyone with an interest in the Civil War is welcome to attend to learn more about the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. It is the successor and heir of the Grand Army of the Republic.
