Golf teams compete in Munising

The Manistique Emeralds golf teams spent the afternoon Tuesday on the fairways and greens in Munising

Eight strokes separated the Emerald and Mustang boys with Munising taking the match with a 171. Gwinn posted a 204.

Medalist for the day was Mike Nagy with a low card of 35. Keegan Nebel of Munising was the only other player to finish the afternoon in the 30s. He scored a 39.

In addition to Nagy, Josh Hentschell shot a 46 and Nick LaFave and Tanner Watson both shot 49.

Five strokes separated the Mustangs and Emeralds during the girls’ completion. Manistique upended Munising posting a 245.

Freshman Hailey Hoholik was runner up with a 58, just two strokes behind Munising medalist Molly Matson.

Also competing from Manistique were Emily Wilson with a 59, Steph Halpin 61 and Kylie Bowers 67.

Both teams will return to Munising on Friday, May 18, for the Munising Invitational.

Manistique will compete at home on Monday, May 21, against Escanaba and Munising.
