Ruth G. Robere

Ruth G. “Peanuts” Robere, 79, of 550 Garden Ave., Manistique,

Mich., died unexpectedly on Friday, May 11, 2012, at Schoolcraft

Memorial Hospital in Manistique.

She was born Sept. 16, 1932, in Manistique, the daughter of Maurice and Ruth (Anderson) Conarty and attended Manistique area schools.

On Aug. 27, 1949, the former Ruth G. Conarty married William Robere, Jr. at St. Francis Rectory in Manistique. They made their home and raised their family in the Flint and Davison, Mich., areas and moved back to Manistique in 1987 following retirement.

In addition to being a homemaker, Ruth was employed as a waitress and as a press operator.

Ruth was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique and the Women of the Moose No. 1665 of Manistique. She was a former den mother, Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. She enjoyed fishing and was an avid Detroit Tiger fan.

Ruth is survived by her husband, William Robere, Jr. of Manistique; sons, William (Diana) Robere and Jeffery Robere both of Davison; daughters, Linda (Russell) Robinson of Millington, Mich., and Susan (David) Mattarella of Mayville. Mich.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; half-brothers, Thomas (Patricia) Conarty of Twin Lakes, Mich., and John (Sherry) Conarty of White Cloud, Mich.; half-sister, Rose (Max) Gardenour of Fremont, Mich.; along with nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Maurice Conarty and Ruth Conarty-Cornell, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Robere; twin daughters, Nancy and Diane Robere; and her half-brothers, Maurice and Howard Conarty.

Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, May 14, at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. A rosary was recited at 6:45 p.m. and parish prayers were said at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique with Father Glenn Theoret officiating. A luncheon followed the mass.
