New art gallery seeking artists
MANISTIQUE – The new Lake Effect Art Gallery is ready to accept new artists.
The long-planned gallery now has a home at Traders’ Point, in the building between the Upper Crust Cafe and Traders’ Point Antique Mall. Artists are needed to fill the gallery walls, shelves and cabinets. An early June opening is planned.
A wide variety of art and fine crafts will be accepted and all artists and artisans are encouraged to submit their work for consideration and get involved in the gallery. Part-time, amateur, occasional or full-time artists are welcome. The committee will be available at the Traders Point building May 22-24 from 1 to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, May 30, from 5 to 7 p.m.
For more information, including the submission guidelines, go to www.LakeEffectArts.org/gallery or contact Jennifer Dibble at 286-0959 or email gallery@ LakeEffectArts.org.
There will also be opportunities after the Gallery is open to submit work for consideration, as well as opportunities for volunteers to get involved.
The new Lake Effect Art Gallery will be staffed entirely by volunteers and all profits will go toward the non-profit Lake Effect Community Arts Center for their community arts programs.
Lake Effect Community Arts was formed in early 2011 with the goal of encouraging and nurturing the arts in the Schoolcraft County area. New members are always welcome.
