UPWard conference coming to Esky
ESCANABA – The UPWard Initiative Tourism and Professional Development Conference will debut at the Island Resort and Casino on May 30. According to organizers, the event was brought back after several extremely successful annual customer service excellence workshops and overwhelming interest in re-establishing the Upper Peninsula Tourism Summits.
The conference is expected to attract an audience seeking business opportunities, skill development, and the latest tourism information. The theme of the conference is “’Lighten UP’ – shining a light on U.P. communities.”
The UPWard Initiative tourism group is made up of volunteers from both the private and public sector, and they have planned this event for everyone in the U.P. and Northern Wisconsin. Attendees will receive the latest information about tourism industry trends from the experts, and have an opportunity for valuable skill development during the breakout sessions, which include low-cost marketing, customer service training and social media marketing.
A golf outing will be hosted by the Marquette and Delta County Convention and Visitors Bureaus on May 29 at the Sweetgrass Golf Course, located at the Island Resort and Casino. The scramble will be followed by a reception that evening in the Conference Center.
These events will pave the way for the Tourism and Professional Development Conference on May 30, and will provide extra networking opportunities, especially for out of town guests.
The kickoff presentation on Wednesday will be delivered by Bruce Goddard.
