Jack Reque Alternative Education graduation will be held at 2 p.m. in the Hiawatha Community Center on Friday, May 18. A recent visitor at the alternative program was State Representative Steven Lindberg. Mr. Lindberg was a former teacher at the Marquette Alternative Education program, and tries to stop in once or twice a year just to say “Hi” and to speak with the students. He has a love for our school, and the program in general.

There will be a mandatory parent/ student meeting for Spanish Club members participating in the Chicago Field Trip on Tuesday, May 22, in the Community Room of the Middle/High School.

Manistique Area Youth Soccer will hold a registration on May 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Middle/High School.

Grad Party Committee will meet at the Emerald Gym on Tuesday, May 22, at 5:30 p.m. to begin set-up for the All Night Grad Party.

Ad Hoc Committees at Emerald and Middle/High School buildings have been reviewing applications for the positions of Elementary Principal and Middle/High School Principal. The Elementary committee will meet on Wednesday, May 23 (following early dismissal), to select its candidates for public interview the week of June 4. The Middle/High School committee will meet on Thursday, May 24 (following early dismissal), to select its candidates for public interview also the week of June 4. The public is welcomed to attend the interviews, which will be held in the Community Room of the Middle/High School. Watch for specific dates and times. Recommendations for hire will be presented to the board at its regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 18.

City – May 17.

Shirley’s Angels Volleyball Tournament MS/HS Gym from 11-4 p.m. – May 19.

Pink Girls’ Softball Tournament, 10 a.m. – May 19.

Baccalaureate in the Auditorium – May 20.

5th Grade Field Trip to Mackinac Island – May 21.

Kindergarten and First Grade Field Trip to Wallace Zoo – May 22.

3rd Grade Filed Trip to Seney Wildlife Refuge – May 22.

Early Release Days (1:30 p.m.) – May 23 and May 24 (last day of school).

Senior Music Recital (6 p.m. in Auditorium & Community Room) – May 24.

Graduation Day – High School Gym (7:30 p.m.) – May 25.
