Emeralds take second at Kiwanis Invit
Monica Giles and Taylor Lockwood continued their dominance in field events, but their first-place finishes couldn’t carry the Emeralds past Marquette Saturday at the annual Kiwanis Invitational in Manistique.
Marquette won the meet with 119 points. Manistique finished with 55 points, Gwinn 46, Big Bay de Noc 20.
Giles captured first place in the shot put with her toss of 30-03.
Lockwood, in just one jump, won the pole vault with a height of 7 feet.
While Giles and Lockwood anchored the field events, the 400-meter relay team of Elisa MacGregor, Kyra Lauzon, Shelby Carlson and Hannah Bryant medaled with their time of 55.09.
Lauzon also took first place in the 200-meter run at 28.96.
