On March 24, she wrestled in the junior division in the 112 pound class and placed in the top eight in the division. Smith was the only freshman that placed in this division.

On Sunday, March 25, Smith wrestled again in the team duals where team Michigan took second place.

Also at the Oklahoma Nationals was Alaina Berby formally from Escanaba, Mich. She took time to give Amber some words of encouragement.
