Triathlon, 5K and 10K races planned for July

Whether you are a veteran athlete or a first-time participant, there are a few events planned for July in Manistique that training schedules need to be started.

The annual Manistique Paper Chase 5K-10K Run/Walk is set to take place on Folkfest weekend Saturday, July 14. The registration fee is $12 with a pre-registration deadline of July 7. You can also register the day of the event from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Manistique Senior Center. Strict registration deadlines will be enforced. Chip timing will be provided by Superior Timing.

New this year will be Manistique’s

Paul Bunyan Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, July 21.

The Manistique Recreation Department is organizing the first ever sprint triathlon as a fund raiser to maintain and improve Central Park.

Participants are invited to challenge their own limits or teams of two or three are welcome to participate.

The race will include a 300 yard swim in Quarry Lake, 15 mile bike ride and 5K run.

The participation fee is $30 prior to June 30. After that time it will be $35. Registration deadline is July 13.
