Volunteers needed for Red Cross

The Superior Upper Peninsula Chapter of the American Red Cross is asking people to join them in helping those in need by volunteering time.

Volunteers are needed in several counties in the Upper Peninsula including Schoolcraft. One of the most important things you can do for your local Red Cross Chapter is to volunteer and donate your time. Whether you can commit one hour a day, week, or month there are always ways that your time can help.

The Red Cross has been helping people for 130 years. The Superior Upper Peninsula Chapter assists an average of 200 victims of fires or other disasters each year. The chapter processes an average of 100 emergency military calls, trains an average of 7,500 people in first aid and water safety classes, and collects nearly 1,000 units of blood each year.

The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on donations of time, money and blood to do its work.
