National Diabetes Alert Day

Tuesday, March 27, was National Diabetes Alert Day, and officials at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital observed the occasion by holding their third annual Alert Day Walk. The event, started by registered nurse Anne Richey, was designed to raise awareness about the increasing prevalence of diabetes — a disease that affects young and old alike — the importance of knowing the risk factors and warning signs, and the fact that preventing and managing the disease can be accomplished by small, simple steps. For more information about the Outpatient Diabetes Education Program at SMH, contact Anne Richey at 341-3210.
