Alma M. Thibideau
Alma M. Thibideau, 83, of Germfask, Mich., died Monday, March 26, 2012, at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.
She was born May 2, 1928, in Manistique, Mich., the daughter of Earl and Olive (Topper) Smith and attended schools in Germfask and Manistique. She was a graduate of Manistique High School.
On Feb. 15, 1947, the former Alma M. Smith married Paul R. Thibideau in Manistique. They made their home and raised their family in Germfask. Together, she and Paul operated a beef cattle farm on Lustila Road in Germfask.
In her earlier years, Alma was employed at Blaney Park Resort as the head of housekeeping and in later years, became the director of the Germfask Senior Center until her retirement.
Alma enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and also playing the organ and guitar.
Alma is survived by her husband, Paul R. Thibideau of Germfask; daughters, Linda (Claude) Clickner of Germfask, Sandy (Bob) Smith of Traunik, Mich., Nancy Faketty of Wisconsin and Paula Thibideau of Germfask; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, George “Bill” (Delores) Smith of Gulliver, Mich.; sister, Elsie (Leonard) England of Germfask; sister-in-law, Rose Mary Smith of Norway, Mich.; along with nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Smith.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor J.D. Livermore, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery at Germfask.
