MCF celebrates St. Patty’s Day and March birthdays

March 21 was a day of celebration at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility, as 5 residents marked their birthdays during the monthly party.

Also celebrated was St. Patrick’s Day with the dining room decorated in shamrocks, volunteers wearing many shades of green shirts and flashy jewelry, and the residents sporting bowler hats.

Mike Johnson and his set up man Glen LaVance, started the afternoon off by leading the audience in singing happy birthday to Ellen Taivalmaa, Rudy Dormair, Elaine Clement, Duane Manthe and William Tennyson. All were presented with a new lap robe and a card.

Mike had the facility jumping and jiving by singing many favorites including, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,” and “Danny Boy,”

Rita Rossier’s cupcakes, decorated with a St. Patrick’s Day motif, were served with ice cream and coffee.

Women’s Club volunteers included Jeanne Gundersen, Irene Hinkson, Betty Desautel, Carolyn Miller, Betty Slining, Pat Mickelson, Betty Harding, Betty Briggs, Sandy LaFave, Ona Allen, Diane Beaman, Shirley Leitgib and Carol Carlson.

The next party will be April 18, featuring pastel colors in the Easter theme and an Easter parade, wear your bonnets. Entertainment will be provided by Mary Larson and friends.
