L. Grabowski, 91, of

309N Sunset Beach Dr., Indian Lake,

Manistique, Mich., died Tuesday,

March 13, 2012, at Schoolcraft

Memorial Hospital in Manistique.

She was born Feb. 17, 1921, in

Granger, Ind., the daughter of Michael and Katalin (Novogradecz) Radics and attended school in Granger.

In her younger years, Kate was employed at Wilson Shirt Company and later at Ball Band US Rubber

Company in Mishawaka, Ind. She later worked as a clerk at Tepe’s family store in South Bend, Ind., and at Hands Rintz Luggage store in Mishawaka.

The former Catherine L. Radics married Walter Grabowski and he preceded her in death in 2003.

Kate has lived most of her life in the South Bend and Mishawaka, Ind., area’s and moved to Iowa City, Iowa in her later years. She moved to Indian Lake on Dec. 2, 2011, from Iowa City.

She enjoyed ball room dancing, playing bingo at the Manistique senior center and being with her family.

Kate is survived by her daughters, Nila Haug (Dennis Nowotny) of Manistique and Gail (Norman) Goethals of Muncie, Ind.; son, Gary (Dawn) Grabowski of Iowa City; grandchildren, Kirk Haug, Courtney (David) Dobrow, Jackie, Andrew and Alan Grabowski, and Mike Nowotny; along with five great-grandchildren; brother Frank (Jeanette) Radics of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Helen (Floyd) Kuzan of Mishawaka; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe and Mike; and her sisters, Irene, Ann and Theresa.

Per Kate’s request, there will be no services.
