Lorn G. Fletcher

Lorn G. Fletcher, 73, formerly of Seney and Manistique, Mich., died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Tendercare Health Center in Munising, Mich.

He was born March 30, 1938, in Magoffin County, Ky., the son of Ransom and Goldie (Fletcher) Fletcher and moved to the Stockbridge, Mich., area as a child. He graduated from high school in 1957. He later attended a trade school to become an auctioneer.

Lorn was employed at Federal Screw Works in Chelsea, Mich., from 1959, until his retirement because of disability in 1982. He held many positions during his tenure with the company.

In 1983, he moved to Seney and lived there until moving to Manistique in 1995. He lived in the Manistique area until moving to Munising for health reasons this past year.

Lorn was a member of the North American Association of Ventriloquists. He loved animals and planting trees.

Lorn is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Ken) Obrest, Barbara (Ted) Burton and Sara (Scott) Lakosky all of Manistique; sons, Gerald Fletcher and Phillip Fletcher both of Manistique; grandchildren, Ashley Church, Ethan Lakosky, Blake Lakosky, Scott Burton and Spencer Burton; step-children, Darren Duszynski of Kendallville, Ind., Allen Duszynski of Germfask, Mich., Armeda (Michael) Coursen of Millington, Mich., John Trevaskis of Millington and Jay (Pam) Trevaskis of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, James (Mary) Fletcher of Stockbridge, Mich., Carl (Anna) Fletcher of Stockbridge, Donnie (Georgia) Fletcher of Stockbridge and Wilkie (Joyce) Fletcher of Stockbridge; sisters, Peggy (David) Young of Kalkaska, Mich., and Marilyn (Ted) Brown of Munith, Mich.; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Disa; his wife, Mary E. Fletcher in 2010; and his sisters, Sharon Shoemaker, Levetcha Phillips and Betsey Lee Fletcher.

Visitation was held from noon - 1 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Messier- Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. A prayer closed the visitation at 1 p.m.
